Around The Block LLC publishes DigiByte Wallet, a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet for Android. This policy explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

THE SHORT VERSION

We do not have your keys, your recovery phrase, your balances, or your transaction history. None of it is sent to us, because none of it leaves your device. Using the wallet requires no account, and we cannot recover your funds if you lose your recovery phrase. The app's optional community features (Hub chat and forum, DigiRunner, tipping) do create a pseudonymous account tied to your DigiByte address, and anything you post there is public.

WHAT STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE

Your recovery phrase and private keys. Generated on your device and stored encrypted, protected by the device's hardware security and by a PIN you set.

Your wallet addresses. The app syncs using BIP157/158 compact block filters, downloaded and matched entirely on your device. The older method used by most wallets (BIP37 bloom filters) discloses your address set to the servers you connect to; that code was removed and is not present.

Your balances and transaction history, computed on your device from block headers and filters. The app does not ask a block explorer what you own.

WHAT THE APP CONNECTS TO

Syncing with a public network necessarily reveals your IP address to whoever is on the other end, the same as visiting a website:

DigiByte peer nodes. The app connects directly to nodes on the public DigiByte network. These are independent operators we do not control, and they learn nothing about you beyond your IP address and standard protocol messages.

api.digiscope.me, which we operate: a list of filter-capable peers, DigiAsset metadata, and IPFS content for assets you view. These requests carry no keys and no wallet balances. DigiAsset lookups do include your public DigiByte addresses, because that is what an asset-balance query is; you can point them at your own node instead. If our IPFS proxy cannot serve an asset's media, the app falls back to the public gateways trustless-gateway.link, dweb.link and ipfs.io, which then see your IP address and which file was requested. Server logs may record the requesting IP address and timestamp, rotated daily and retained about two weeks, used only to run and protect the service.

Price data from api.coingecko.com and api.binance.com, requested directly by the app to display a fiat value. These requests carry no wallet data, but those services see your IP address and that a price was asked for.

Your own node, if you pair one. Nothing is sent to us in that case.

You can route all of this through Tor from the app's network settings, in which case those parties see a Tor exit node rather than your IP address. Tor is off by default, so it is a choice you make rather than something we do on your behalf.

Bug reports, if you choose to send one. Reporting a bug from inside the app opens our report page in your browser, pre-filled with your device model and manufacturer, Android version, app version and build number, memory page size, whether you are on mainnet or testnet, and the sync stage the wallet was in. That is the whole list: no addresses, no balances, no keys, nothing that names you. You can see those values before sending, and nothing is submitted unless you submit it.

WHAT WE DO NOT DO

No analytics, no advertising, and no tracking of any kind. We do not sell, rent or share information with third parties. No account, login, or email address is required to use the wallet. No automated decision-making or profiling.

CHILDREN

The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

YOUR RIGHTS

If you only use the wallet, we hold no personal information about you, so there is generally nothing to disclose, correct or delete. If you used the optional community features and want that account and its posts removed, ask us and we will remove them. If you believe we hold information about you, write to privacy@aroundtheblock.us and we will respond within 30 days.

Deleting the app removes the wallet data stored on your device. Write down your recovery phrase first, because we cannot restore it.

SECURITY

The source is public at github.com/JohnnyLawDGB/digibytewallet-android. Every release is built and signed in continuous integration and published with its SHA-256, so you can verify what you installed.
